STN Nurse Leadership Institute – Spring 2026
STN is pleased to announce the return of the new Nurse Leadership Institute. This 12-week course is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 10th and run through Monday, November 2nd.
STN's Nurse Leadership Institute offers opportunities for aspiring leaders in trauma care to learn and grow in their profession. The Leadership Institute directly supports and enhances the mission, vision and strategic plan of STN by addressing the specialized needs of a trauma leader.
The Leadership Institute is designed to equip trauma leaders with the tools needed to effectively lead from the bedside to the boardroom and beyond. This is a web-based course, utilizing experienced speakers, PowerPoint presentations, creative toolbox items and blogs, occurring over a 12-week period. Applicants must have a comfort level with an online format and have access to a computer with the minimum browser requirements.
This course will deliver leadership topics that will assist the trauma leader to grow both personally and professionally in their leadership role, including:
- Communication and Relationship Management
- Leadership
- Finance
- Professionalism
- Knowledge of the Healthcare Environment
- Business Skills and Knowledge

All presentations will be pre-recorded for viewing; however, moderators will actively engage with participants, on a weekly basis, providing interaction and feedback throughout the course. Your participation in discussions and assessments is expected to be able to move forward every week. Details for the course will be posted for you to anticipate the workload and plan accordingly. However, we expect a commitment of 2–3 hours per week.

- PC: Internet Explorer 10.0 or above, latest version of Mozilla Firefox, or latest version of Google Chrome (JavaScript enabled). Cable modem, DSL, or better Internet connection.
- Mac: Latest version of Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome (JavaScript enabled). Cable modem, DSL, or better Internet connection.
Responsibilities/Key Activities
- Complete all module recorded sessions and required post-session learning activities (reading articles, discussion boards, application activities, assignments, etc.).
- Commit to spending at least 2–3 hours per module reading materials, preparing for sessions, viewing videos, and completing assignments.
Continuing Education Credit
The Society of Trauma Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
This program will provide 36.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education. All assignments and final evaluation must be completed to receive CNE for this program. No partial credit will be awarded.
